Steve Shier has spent more than 15 years writing software in a wide variety of languages on platforms from embedded microprocessor systems and mobile devices to desktops and servers to mainframes. He has designed and written database driven web, mobile and desktop software for Classified Ventures, a consortium of the LA Times, Gannett Co. (USA Today) and other major newspapers; Kone, a $6 billion elevator manufacturer; and Thomson Reuters (owner of Reuters news agency), a Fortune 500 company.
Steve's expertise includes system architecture, enterprise application integration, electronic commerce, database design and administration, financial transactions, user interface design, back office software, and search engines. He has integrated web sites and back end systems with Amazon, eBay, SAP, Microsoft Commerce Server, FedEx, UPS, and proprietary ERP systems among others. Steve mostly develops software in C# (since 2002) and PHP and has worked in Java, C++ and VisualBasic.NET.
Steve has more than 10 years of business experience in the financial and retail industries in marketing, administration, operations and finance. His unique combination of business and technical experience allows him to understand business concepts and put them into cost-effective technical solutions.
Steve has a Masters degree in Physics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He has taught numerous Object Discovery classes covering the topics of OO Analysis, OO Design and OO Programming using C++, Java and C#/.Net
